Puerto Banus 2009

This years tour champion was won at a canter after the first two rounds of 8 under par, day three was almost a formality. For the first time mister consistent Paul H was the winner after a total of 111 made up of 41, 39 & 31. Back in second came Bez with 103. The tour champion of 2007 almost did it again but a few stray shots on day two gave him to much to do on day three. Gez Newsome slotted into third with three solid rounds gradually get better each day ending up on 102 with 32, 34 & 36.  Club Captain Pete had his normally pathetic score total and ended up bringing up the rear with a measly 79 points 10 worse than last year. There where plenty of average rounds and only 6 rounds over par but more importantly 23 rounds of less than 30 was testimony to three quite difficult courses. The Wyder Cup was again up for grabs. 3 - 3 before this event it was all to play for. Day one saw it end all square with 2 Red & Blue wins with the last two being halved. Day two saw the Reds take a slender lead into the singles by ending up 3-2 on the day for a 6-5 lead. So it was again all down to the singles and it was the Reds that won the day by taking it 7 to 4 for a four point win 13 - 9. You can see from the table on the right how the reds took control with only top scoring Wyder Cup man Bez and Anthony H breaking into the Red domination of the table. Five golfers ended the weekend unbeaten. Bez getting a 100% record while Anthony H from the Blues and John H from the Reds getting two wins and one half. Red team member Dale G also unbeaten with two halves and one win.
