Report of the Day

Day two was played over the very picturesque Santa Clara. The weather proved to be just perfect with a slight breeze and plenty of cloud cover. Our winner was John H who was long overdue a good round. He stormed out the block with 24 points after nine holes made up of 5 pars and the rest bogies for his gross 40. The back nine was slightly less impressive due to a couple of blobs but his 41 stableford points took it by 2 shots. Back in second was day one winner Paul H who for the second day running was under par. The par 4 12th was the only negative on another good round. Previous tour champion Steve W finished in third with a solid 2 under par 38 made up of no blobs and a sprinkling of pars. A good round from Paul N boosted his first day score with 7 pars for the lowest gross of the day at 85. Andy G had a round to be proud of after a late night clubbing. A net one on the 2nd hole and 13 points after 5 was the foundation for the round. A couple of blobs around the turn was the difference from it being a winning total. Woody took bottom spot after his first day second with a less than impressive 22. His Piano Bar antics till 4am in the morning was probably a contributing factor.
