What a weekend of golf! Three contrasting courses provided the perfect backdrop for some competitive action. Friday got us underway with a light shower or two as we teed off, but as we climbed higher the wind picked up, blew away the drizzle and rewarded us with breathtaking views though the tough, blustery conditions certainly tested every player. Day two brought sunshine and more wind across a course in excellent condition, with magnificent greens and sweeping views across the valleys making it a memorable round despite the elements. Sunday gave us a fitting finale a more traditional layout winding through the trees, sheltered from the wind and bathed in pleasant sunshine. Three great days, three very different challenges, with the scores reflecting that only seven golfers breaking par from 113 starts (6.1%)

The outstanding performer of the weekend was Paul Newsome who, across his two rounds, carded two under par each day for a superb four under par aggregate. His composed scorecard of 15 pars and 4 birdies was completely blob-free a performance that earned him the distinction of becoming our lowest playing handicapper. Anthony H produced the round of the weekend on the picturesque Llandrindod Wells course, finishing four under par with a flawless card of 12 pars and not a single blob.

Others to break par included Kirk T, Rob Tonks and Gez N, all finishing one under par on their respective standout days. The final word goes to Jamie, who saved his best for Sunday. A remarkable nine-point improvement on his Saturday score saw him take top spot with a three under par 39 a blob-free round built on 5 pars and 2 birdies.

Despite the demanding conditions across all three days, the weekend still yielded an impressive 11 twos, 29 birdies and 393 pars a testament to the quality of golf on show throughout. A great weekend made all the better by 38 golfers who rose to the challenge and gave it everything they had, though as with any tough weekend away, there were inevitably a few rounds that some may prefer to quietly forget!
