Handicap Changes: Here

Our second visit to The Chase certainly lived up to expectations. The course was in excellent condition, with large, fast and smooth greens, beautifully presented fairways and a layout that was a pleasure to play. Glorious October sunshine provided the perfect backdrop as 34 golfers enjoyed a day that saw three players beat their handicaps and two match them. Whitt and Tommo both played to their handicaps. Whitt kept a clean card without a single blob and recorded four pars, while Tommo’s only blob came on the 18th. Kirk claimed third place after losing out on countback. Just three points from his final three holes proved costly and may well have denied him the day’s honours. Gez secured second place, finishing one under his handicap with just one blob, on the par-four tenth. An impressive 10 pars underlined his consistency and helped him claim his third top-three finish of the season. Taking the honours was Pete Barry, who recorded his second 40-point score of the season. Five consecutive pars from the second hole helped him reach the turn with 21 points. His only blob came on the 12th, but he bounced back with a birdie on the 16th before finishing with two solid scores. Two three-putts meant there was still room for an even bigger total, but his performance earned him a three-shot handicap cut and another nearest-the-pin prize. Many of the group praised both the course and the warm hospitality at this excellent family-run venue. We’re already looking forward to returning.
