Day one got off to a late start due to
flight delays, which meant we had to have a shotgun start in order
to beat the light, with half the field starting off on the 1st tee
and the other half off the 10th. The greens left a lot to be desired
far to much sand and very patchy made it difficult to putt out.
The day was won by the captain who had his putting head by notching
8 pars and a birdie with only 1 blob for his 37. Unlucky to lose on
count back was Dave B who had no blobs and notched a gross round of
83 (9 pars). Paul C had a good back 9 notching 22 points made up of
a nett eagle and 3 nett birdies for his total of 35. Solid rounds
from mister consistent Paul H and Paul N gave them both a good
footing for the weekend ahead. Andy G had his best round to date
with an impressive 34 points made up of only 2 blobs and 5 nett
birdies. John H took 9 holes to get going with a woeful 4 points on
the front 9, a slight recovery on the back 9 still saw 3 blobs, a
day to forget.
