| Well where do I start 22 people playing to or better than their handicaps, meant there where quite a few smiling faces at the presentation. So lets first look at those who had a day where they probably missed a trick to boost there OOM chances. Last years top man and OOM winner Dave T was the only full member not to break the 30 point barrier with a disappointing 27, its not clicked yet this year for Dave but with almost half the events gone his place at the bottom of the albatross league looks difficult. Another who cant get his season going is Jim C, although looking at his card he only posted one blob which was less than the eventual winner, but far to many double bogeys ones led to a him just breaking the 30 point barrier. Like Dave Jim's place at the bottom of the Eagle league looks difficult. For full details of how the day ended click here. | ||

Spring Knock Today seen the spring knockout finals played in all the leagues. The albatross final saw the society's lowest handicap man Gez N against Mark P. Gez (left) in confident mood on the first hole, which was carried through with a 42 points to 39 victory. The eagle league saw anther fine display from Anthony H taking the victory by 4 points from Wiggy 42 to 38. The Birdie league saw a nip and tuck affair that was only decided on the 18th hole. With Sean A narrowly beating Chris S by a point 32 to 31. |
40 Point Plus
With 7 golfers hitting or bettering the 40
point barrier we should take time to reflect on their performance. Top
scorer of the day went to
So down to the winner, after missing the last event and a below par weekend event at Hill Valley he was back to what we would expect. His score of 43 saw 3 blobs of which one was on the back 9 with 24 points. This was made up of 5 pars and a birdie helping him towards the winning total. |

Opening Four-Ball
|
Rob W (far left) in confident mood and rightly so. His round of 41 was solid all the way through, sinking a couple of long putts early on built his confidence for this good round. John H (middle left) also putt the first three events behind his with a respectable 36. Captain Pete (left) started off with a border line out of bounds decision going in his favor which he capitalized on with a better than par round of 39 which for the second event running contained no blobs. |
|
| Committee man Andy W (woody) was also another that had reason to smile. After the first 3 events he was struggling to even break to 30 point barrier but today weighted in with a solid better that par 39 points. His back 9 score of 24 points with no blobs secured his place in the top 10. The Whatsize brothers refuse to be separated by much with solid shows of 37 for Craig and 38 for Greg on the day and their handicaps only bring separated by 0.1 at 16.3 & 16.4. Sorry I cant mention everyone but it will be your turn sometime during the season. If I have missed any more interesting stories please let me know and I will update. |
