Firstly
congratulations to Jimbo who had baby the day before the Golf Day and
still managed to attend - good effort Jim but after he wheeled his trolley
into a bunker on the 3rd, best leave the pram pushing to the wife. A
couple of Irish squeals of delight were heard around the course,
apparently it wasn't the Corrs in concert (or El Boycie in action) it was
our Gez first chipping in off the green and then holing the longest
putt of all time (allegedly).
Paul
Cameron, clearly holes such putts at regular intervals so no over
excitement from
Cam
as
he "popped another one in" from 40 feet plus to capture the
Captains Combination prize.
The
poor Captain was the victim of a devastating display from Dave
Thompson in the Division One semi-final. A barrage of pars and birdies
capped by a 150 yard blind 2nd shot over trees to secure a birdie on a par
4 (picture left)
A
mention for the guest Dave Eaton - he
loved it so much he's going on tour?
Mark
Nicholson stormed past the 30 point barrier on the back nine - it was a
roller coaster ride and was enough to make your hair stand on
end.
The
Captain, Mark & Dave clearly influenced by playing with Willow Whitt all in the trees on this hole - where is Whitt?
(picture left) On the
fairway for once.
Nearest
the pin in two on the 6th nearly grasped by Gez, but El Boycie pointed out
that he wasn't on the green (not the first time this committee member has
tried this tactic). A late claim in the bar by Sean Anderson that he hit
the green in two, but he appeared content with reaching the Division
3 final after another decent round.
The
nearest the pin on the 17th was spoiled by the use of a temporary green
but Dave Thompson rose to the 140 yd bucket challenge and won the prize.
Darren
Gough and Graham Stacey from the last group out finished 1st & 2nd in
the overall stableford with 44 and 40 respectively in a day of moderate
scores. Did they enjoy the best of the weather going out last or are
they bandits - the handicap committee is watching :-) (Darren picking up
his prize on left)

Wiggy,
Cam and Paul share a lighter moment as they round the turn, while Whitt
find himself in another Bunker, maybe he's getting tired of the trees?
