Steve Whiston produced a day us mere mortals can only dream of. Top spot with 44 Stableford points, 1 under par (gross) after nine holes, an 18 hole gross of 77, handicap cut to 12 (from a starting society of 32) and a HOLE IN ONE. So after 68 society days and 8 years we get our first official match day hole in one. For the record it came on the 187 yard par three 3rd hole. Steve also progressed into the semi final of the "Committee Shield"  and his "divisional knockout" moved into second place in the OOM and moved 3 points clear in the "Round Robin" certainly and day to remember for Steve. So on any other day Blakey's second place with 40 points would have got us all talking. 8 pars and two birdies took him within 4 points of Steve. Even if he had converted his only bogey on the 10th, on this occasion he would have fell just short. Just like Steve his handicap takes a cut not doing the reds any favors for the tour to Portugal in some 6 weeks time. Equal third was a rejuvenated Rick B who has been threatening for some to string a good round together. His round saw 1 blob, 1 birdie and 8 pars for his tally of 39 and a handicap cut of  1 down to 12. Big hitting Krys Jilks matched Ricks score to finish in 4th place. But he was close to spoiling Steve's day, 36 points after 14 holes and stroke indexes 10, 12 & 15 to come in the last four holes, he would have expected to be into the 40's. But a blob on the last and only single point scores on the other three brought him up short of even the 40 mark.
