After
weeks of rain and grey clouds even on Friday, we ended up with very
good conditions. A bit grey and nippy for the first few holes but
around the middle of the front nine, the sun and blue skies came out
to give us a back nine of short sleeved warm conditions. The
course played in good condition considering all the rain with little
standing water around and greens in great shape. A course that was
always going to give some good score did not disappoint, with eleven
golfers notching oar or better, and three quarters of the filed
ending up in the 30's. Four golfers broke the 40 barrier with John T
doing it for the second event running ending up in fourth place and
avoiding a mandatory 1 shot cut by a single point. 3rd place saw a
welcome return to form and a nice reward for his long traveling,
although not good timing on his handicap cut going into the UK
weekender. 2nd place for the second event running went to Chris
whose consecutive rounds of 41 saw him rewarded with a 2 shot
handicap index cut but nothing material to show for the consistent
round. But the winner by one was our top golfer James, who cemented
his place with a very impressive gross of 75 which was made up of a
2 under par gross on the back nine (Wow) his reward on top of the
wine and balls was a handicap index of 5.7 our lowest ever in the
society. Overall lots of good scores and chatting to people
afterwards sounds like a bit was left out there. everyone in good
sprits leading up to the UK weekender and Wyder Cup 32.
