Our 4th visit to Cherwell has seen some changes over the years. The course was in great shape and even though easy-ish (as its short) there are some nice feature holes. The greens were in great shape rolling true. The weather was up and down with some downpours at times probably over a third of the holes in total. As ever this venue always returns some good scores (feel good factor course) and today was no different. One third of the field broke par with another third within the old fashioned buffer zone of their handicap. (Note one of the few courses where your playing handicap is lower than you handicap index) Captain, Jack, Karl and Gez all had decent rounds with a one under par and all saying they left quite a few out there. Then a clutch of 3 golfers tying for second place on 3 under par 39. The two Johns notched up some heavy points on the 5 par threes to help there very good score. Paul had a great round for his 39 with 8 pars and 2 birdies and a gross score of 7 over. But what can you say about the winner James H. 42 points does not do the story justice. 12 pars and 3 birdies and standing on the 18th tee he was 1 under gross for his round. Unfortunately his only blob of the day and a carded 7 means he ended the round 2 over gross (Wow what a round)
