Great weather and a very good course (Return 2022) got us all back to a level of normality with 4.5 hours in the fresh air. For many it was the first time golfing since November 2019. Everyone played their part and stuck to the social distancing guidelines and from feedback at the end very much enjoyed the day. The golf only saw 3 people break par with Dave T carding an even par round finishing in forth place. Third spot went to Alan T who stormed to the turn in 20 with no blobs, but a couple of wayward drives on the back nine combined with 2 blobs left him 4 short of victory. Second place went to the only blob free round of the day by mister consistent Gez. He got our 2020 season underway hitting the first ball of the new season (picture right) his 39 was only one away which was mainly caused by a slow start only grabbing a single point on the first and the 5th, otherwise crafted from twos and threes on every other hole. But the days winner was "Whatty", who finished with a four under par round of 40. This included 2 blobs and a sloppy 2 foot put missed on the 18th (above) which in hindsight spared him a further handicap cut. 22 points on the front nine with a blob was a great foundation for the back nine which was not as good but effective and a score we would all have liked.

Today also welcomed two new members. Jamie Agnew (left) and John Timson (right). Jamie joined late last year and like may of us has been itching to get started, so is included in the new competition format for this year, but John was a late addition so we are using this year to determine his handicap for full inclusion for the 2021 season. Both recommended and supported by current society members, we welcome them to the society and hope they enjoy their time with us. I am sure like the rest of us, they will look forward to a better return on future golf days. See you all in July. Please note next event is MatchPlay Committee Shield
