We found ourselves a little gem of a course in Swindon which was matched by the good weather and the tightness of the scoring. The winner was Dave Thompson the only golfer to break par. You have to go back to April 4th 2009 (over 4 years) to find his last society win. Not a single blob in his round that started off with 16 points after nine holes which placed him in 14th place at the turn. But 21 points on the back nine help with a strong finish of 3 pars in the last 4 holes took him one shot clear of Craig and Rick. It was Rick that finished the strongest of everyone with 22 points on the back nine and this included a blob on the 12th. 5 pars and 2 birdies from the last nine was impressive but not good enough on the day probably due to the 3 blobs overall. Craig keeps his consistent run going taking his second third place of the season with a par round of 36. Notching the lowest gross of the day with 82 he came up just one shot short of Tommo. Five single point scores and one blob was the difference bit id does give him a 6 point lead in both the Grand Prix and Division One OOM. Andy Leitch and Bez where a further shot back. Bez will probably feel he let this one get away after leading the way at the turn with 21 points and seemingly going well on the back nine, he hit the wall on the last 3 holes with only 2 points. The par 3 Nearest the Pin 17th proved a stumbling block for him with a massive blob. Andy Leitch's time and effort on the golf course is slowly starting to pay off. Winning nearest the pin on the 17th and grabbing 3 points for that was a bonus, but back to back blobs on 14 & 15 left him a couple of shots short of taking the top spot.
