LARDY LANDS SHORT COURSE TITLE

It  was beautiful day for golf on our inaugural double header event. Par 3 "Short Course Championship" in the morning followed by the 18 holes main event in the afternoon. The morning event was played over 3/8th handicap (see handicaps here) on the Par 3, nine hole spires course. Even on the short course format only 5 golfers broke par with James H playing to par. Nico was one shot under par and Whitt a further shot back. Blunders took third spot with 21 points. Back in second place was the ever consistent Chris Shaw who just cant get over the line to top spot this season. Top spot went to the straight hitting Mark C (Lardy) with an impressive 25 points made up of 6 gross pars.

TOMMO TAKES TOP SPOT WITH 42 POINT HAUL

With the morning warm up out of the way it was over to the afternoon event. The practice and weather obviously put the field in a good vein of form with 58% of the field breaking par and further 7 playing within their buffer zone. The SSS of 71 was applied meaning back in 10th place with a par 37 was Gez Newsome. Anthony was just one place above before 5 golfers notched 39 points headed by Chris Shaw who secured his 3rd forth place of the season. Our youngest golfer then hit then 40 point barrier for a well deserved 3rd spot, taking a handicap cut on his way to taking out the captain 3&2 in the MatchPlay after being 3 down after 5 holes. Second spot went to Paul N who on the back nine was hotter than the weather. His grossed 33 shots ending up 3 under par and 26 points. 6 pars and 3 birdies would have troubled many pros. His reward was the societies lowest ever handicap of 8.8 and second spot with 41 points. Top spot went to Tommo for his second win in the last 3 events. His 42 points came with a gross of 81 shots with 10 pars and only one blob on the par 4 6th hole.

Note: CSS of 71 was applied after 58% of the field played better than par.
