Kilworth Springs

Its been coming for some time and today was the day. Lets set the scene, it was a lovely sunny October day 11 golfers broke par, 3 equaled it and there was only 4 scores in the twenties. But one golfer hit the magical number and has recorded the society highest total ever for 18 holes. Chris Shaw weighed in with a massive 51 points, some 7 shots ahead of second place, his reward for this impressive score was a six shot cut in his handicap.  Back in second with a 8 under par round was committee man Dale who like Chris was going to post a big score sometime soon. They will both have the work cut out over the next year to maintain their new lowest ever handicaps. Bez and Jim where just a few shots back on 41. Bez weighed in with 10 pars and two birdie for his best round of the season and exactly match last October at Brampton Heath. Jim also notched his best score of the season also made from 10 pars  The other golfer to hit the 40 point barrier was Nico who like the other guys has been threatening to post a big score. His score of 40 still contained two blobs but was out weighed with four, 4 point scores. Rick had a good round notching 3 under par, to be fair leaving 3 or 4 shots out there. This now takes him down to 13.8 another step closer to his club handicap and almost securing hi place in division one next year. 2 under par saw the societies lowest handicapper Paul N slide into being the first WGGC golfer to get a single figure handicap (unfortunately at the moment its only his exact (9.8) but I am sure it wont be long before his playing handicap follows. Also on 2 under and maintaining his superb season was John H. This score has probably now secured the Division 2 OOM and the prestigious Grand Prix (shows mister consistent) The only other golfer was Graham A who notched a 1 under par, most people would have been happy with that but Graham was rather dejected in the club house after as he blobbed the last two. This proved to be very costly as him and his partner where knocked out the semi final of the pairs by a single point. Gez continued his tour form by taking both nearest the pins (A slight relief for the captain, as he was in prime spot on the second hole until Gez turned up in the last four ball. A relief you say, yes the tee shot 13 feet from the pin was followed with a 4 putt. If this was not embarrassing enough, there was another one some 6 holes later, these sandwiched two 3 putt holes. (Well that's my excuse for finishing in the bottom 4)
