We
almost beat the weather, well most of the golfers did. It
started off a lovely sunny day, but aft er
a couple of hours turned windy and cloudy which managed to
hold off until the penultimate group got to the 16th when
the heavens opened. Luckily it only lasted for a couple of
holes and not too much damaged was done.
Ingon manor
ended up being an all blue affair. James Little (Blue team
member and Birmingham City Fan) taking top spot from the
fast improving Andy Leitch taking second (Blue team member
and Rangers Fan) James took it by two shots shooting a seven
under par 43, made up with 7 pars and 2 blobs of which one
was on the 18th. Andy L 41 points was his best ever all and
a good result form all his hard work around society days. He
shared the Captains Combo Competition with Gez, moved to top
spot in division 3 and claimed the league knockout. Back in
third was the societies lowest handicapper Paul Newsome,
who's two under par round and lowest gross of 80 moved him
into our first single figures handicapper, although it being
exact not playing. His blobs on 9 and 18 could have turned
the 9.9 into a single figure playing one. The front nine
proved to be good grounding for many golfers and must have
thought they where on for a big score. unfortunately for
half of them the wheels came off (Jeff right) 8 golfers
returned 20 points of more after nine holes;
- 23 pts Andy Leitch, James Little
- 22 pts Jeff Winters
- 21 pts Mark Beswick, Brian Dudley, Gez Newsome
- 20 pts Pete Shaw, Dave Thompson
A clutch of
golfers 11 golfers then battled it out over the next 3
Stableford points. A missed putt here, a wayward drive
there, a fluffed chip could have been the difference in a
handful of places and some needy "Grand Prix" points. It was
the same for the next 9 places, all very tight. A couple of
division one golfers will want to forget this venue notching
their worst scores for many a year. Craig W off 23 stuck at
the bottom and Steve W two shots better on 25 (This after a
dress code violation on the first tee)
