AGM 2022

Our 2022 AGM took place Saturday January 22nd 2022 at Red Lion Public House.

Attendees: Peter Shaw, Gez Newsome, Andy Whittaker, Chris Shaw, Anthony Harding, Steve Whiston  Start: 18:30 Finish 22.00 (3:30 Hrs)

Financials

  • Financial statement and spending analysis were presented by Pete and concurred by all committee members.

  • Anthony H will organise the wine bottles for the prizes (Budget increase agreed)

  • Info: Only 1 advance payments have had to go out for 2022 season (sign of the times)

  • Budget of £200 agreed for new Wyder Cup Trophy

Handicaps

  • Handicap Pattern to change to be best 5 from last 13 (Instead of 8 from 20) We are attempting to make our handicap closer to show your recent ability and performance over the last 1.5 seasons (As we only hold 9 events a year) The old pattern of 8 form 20 would go back over 2 years which defeats the intention of the WHS system. Any question speak to a committee member. (Please check the league structures on the website for more detail)

  • Note: No individuals handicaps were changed by the committee, (change from previous years) the software we use (Handicap Master) adjusted them automatically based on the new pattern.

Leagues

  • 33 golfers in society, 5 in associate member section.

  • 11 golfers in each of the 3 leagues.

  • Dave Wiggett moves to Division 2.

  • Mark Beswick moves to Division 2.

  • Pete Shaw moves to Division 3.

  • James Little moves to Division 3.

  • Andy Whittaker moves to Division 3.

  • Dan Moore joins into Division 1.

  • Jason Carroll joins into Division 3.

  • Karl Blattner joins into Division 3.

Competitions

  • Retired the Clubhouse Cup competition.

  • Retired the Par 5 Challenge competition.

  • Retired the Mr Blobby competition.

  • Retired the 22 Cup competition (only brought in for 20 & 21 due to limited events)

  • Renamed the "WBH Grand Prix" to the "Leitchy Grand Prix"

  • All other competitions return for the 2022 season.

Match Days Golf Courses

  • August was Forest of Arden has been cancelled late, Pete looking for new venue. (Website will be updated soon)

  • October was Tadmarton Heath has been cancelled late, Pete looking for new venue.  (Website will be updated soon)

Carden Park Presentation Weekend

  • Carden Park will host the 2019, 2020, 2021 presentations together. (23 Prizes to be presented)

  • Prize money to be credited to individuals accounts, instead of "American Golf Vouchers"

  • Trophies will be retired from 2022 season, but an increase of £5 per competition winner.

  • Investigate purchase of New Wyder Cup, engraved with the history, approx £200 budget

  • Also look at inflatable fun trophy for the Wyder Cup.

  • Jason Carroll assigned to the Red team.

Portugal Foreign Golf Tour

  • Tour to Portugal now complete, check website for full details.

  • Espiche Saturday 12:30

  • Buggies are included every day

  • El Paraiso hotel in Albuferia (we have stopped there before)
