AGM 2011

Our 2011/12 AGM meeting  took place on Thursday December 29th 2011 at the Devonshire Arms public house. Details of agreed additions and modifications are shown below.

Attendees: Peter Shaw, Gez Newsome, Dale Green, Andy Whittaker, Steve Whiston, Anthony Harding, Chris Shaw.                          Start 18:30 Finish 22:20 (3hrs 50mins)

  • Accounts were presented and agreed as correct. (season loss of £196.43)

  • Annual Handicap Review (See detailed review formula for those who where under discussion here)

    • James Little - has his handicap reduced by 2.2 to 23

    • Graham Aulton - has his handicap reduced by 1.2 to 20

    • John Howard - has his handicap reduced by 2.0 to 18

    • Rick Batchelor - has his handicap reduced by 0.9 to 13

    • Dave Wiggett - has his handicap increased by 0.5 to 13.6

    • Brian Dudley - after discussion no change at 23.0

    • Sean Wynne - after discussion no change at 25.6

    • Andy Leitch - after discussion no change at 26.5

    • Rob Ward - after discussion no change at 27.2

  • New members where awarded official society handicaps and assigned to a division and Wyder Cup team

    • Alan Thompson awarded a handicap of 14.9 assigned to Division 1 and the Red team.

    • James Heathcote awarded a handicap of 17.0 assigned to Division 2 and the Blue team.

    • Ian Hammond awarded a handicap of 25.1 assigned to Division 3 and the Red team.

  • All handicap buffer zones and incremental values remain the same. (See website for details)

  • Division setup & changes

    • Division construction is 12 golfers in Division One & Two and 11 golfers in Division Three

    • Handicap Split Point for Division 2 to 3 is an exact handicap of 25.0

    • Handicap Split Point for Division 1 to 2 is an exact handicap of 15.0

    • Rick Batchelor moves up to Division One

    • Chris Shaw moves up to Division Two

    • James Little moves up to Division Two

  • Pairs Championship

    • It was decided to allow the 2011 winners to defend their title (John Howard & Krys Jilks)

    • Due to the numbers of golfers the semi finals have been scrapped and the winners of each pool will play each other in the November Final

    • It was agreed that the final should continue be Match Play format

    • The draw was changed from a pooled handicap list (top 16, bottom 16) to a blind draw of all golfers.

  • No March event pencilled in, Jim & Cam asked for a charity event. Left open for Pete to speak to the guys about a proposed venue.

  • The draws for all the knockout competitions and the pairs took place, please see website for the complete draw.

  • There was initial discussion about our 10th Anniversary year 2014.

    • Increase to 10 events, maybe look at an additional links weekend in June (Pete to get some prices and canvas society members)

    • Other ideas muted - If not links course, then maybe The Belfry or Celtic Manor

    • Other ideas muted -Hunstanton? Blackpool? Royal Birkdale? Scotland?

  • 2012 golf days presented and agreed by everyone.

  • It was agreed to purchase some more nearest the pin markers

  • It was agreed to change the draw of the Sunday pairings for the Wyder Cup to a live draw after the presentation on Saturday night (at Hawkstone Park)

  • It was agreed to increase the prize amount from £10 to £20 for each divisional round robin winner.

  • A proposal for giving cash prizes with the trophies was discussed and deferred to next years AGM. (Dependant on financial status)

  • The constitution was agreed and updated. See latest version 2.5 here.

  • Committee was increased form 5 to 7 with the introduction of Anthony Harding and Chris Shaw.
