2008 AGM Details

Our 2008 AGM took place on Sunday December 28th 2008 at the Devonshire Arms public house. It lasted around 5 hours and a list of agreed additions and modifications are shown below. Attendees: Peter Shaw, Gez Newsome, Dale Green, Andy Whittaker, Steve Whiston, Anthony Harding, Craig Whatsize, Paul Newsome

  • All golfers handicaps reviewed and some modified. There where many exact handicap tweaks but only two golfers had their playing handicaps increased, while 11 golfers had them decreased. Checkout the details here.

  • Individual divisional changes: Anthony Harding & Steve Whiston move up to Division 1, with John Howard going in the other direction down to Division 2. Sean Anderson moves up to Division 2.

  • Associate members added to League Structure. Adi Galt & Rick Batchelor to Division 1. Rich Davis to Division 2 and Darren Beaden, Andy Langtree & Jason Riley to Division 3.

  • League structure names reverted back to Division 1, 2 & 3. League cut off values tweaked to Division 1 from 0 to 16, Division 2 from 17 to 27 & Division 3 28 and upward.

  • Handicap Buffer Zone increased from 0.3 to 0.4 for all Divisions.

  • 40 points rule scraped for the 2009 season (Review at next years AGM)

  • Handicap adjustments changed from a standard 0.3 across the board, to a tiered approach based on your handicap. Handicaps 0/16 change of 0.4, Handicaps 17/27 change of 0.5 & Handicaps 28/36 change of 0.6.

  • 30 point rule will still apply but with a standard 0.3 across all Handicaps + your handicap adjustment.

  • Pairs format changed to a League format rather that a knockout. Based on two Pools one of 9 & the other of 8 pairs played over first 8 events with the top pair in each pool playing in the final on the November event.

  • New pairs drawn for the 2009 season.

  • Match Day fee and Standing Order to be minimal of £30 not £25. Average cost of each golf day was £28.33

  • All knockout competitions drawn & count back formats agreed.

    • OOM will be decided if there is a tie on the 8th event and then the 9th event. If still a tie after that the committee will meet to discuss.

    • The par 3, par 5, and Index High competitions will be shared.

    • The Grand Prix will be based on the number of highest finishes (I.E. number of 25 points and descending)

  • Constitution reviewed and updated and new Match Day Organizer formulated.

  • Non attendance notification changed to Wednesday noon prior to event. (Was 24 hours)

  • Prize fund breakdown and payout amounts agreed at £990.00 minimal. (May increase with individual prize purchases)

  • It was agreed to ask individuals if they want either a £15 American Golf voucher or a trophy for winning the divisional knockout competitions.

  • It was agreed if Adi Galt does not pay his outstanding debt by the next meeting (February 1st) we will remove him from the society. Rich Davis will move up to Division 1 (slight handicap change will be applied) and Krys Jilks up to Division 2. The draws for each league will be modified accordingly.   • Clarification of some rules to be communicated through score card & website, we are getting sloppy. Pete to put together a series of proposals ready for next meeting.

  • November event at west Midlands considered a bit expensive. look at Kilworth Springs for the same date. Pete to report back at March Meeting.

  • Divisional Summer Knockout competitions renamed to Autumn Knockout.

  • Next meeting set for February 1st at 5pm venue to be confirmed.
